Common questions about OUR SERVICES

Do you work under NDA?

Yes, from the first call if needed. We work with programmes at all classification levels on the commercial side. NDAs are standard, and we don't share customer constraint details, design files or programme names without explicit permission.

Who owns the IP at the end of the engagement?

It depends. Custom designs, firmware, schematics and source code delivered under a statement of work and funded by you are yours under the terms agreed at kickoff. We retain no licensing rights over work we build to your specification. If the engagement builds on our existing modules or open-source components, we'll be clear about what's covered and what isn't before we start.

Can you support NDAA and BlueUAS programmes?

Yes. We can support NDAA Section 889 and BlueUAS requirements. Our NYC lab runs dedicated manufacturing flows for sovereign-supply programmes with full component traceability, while we manufacture different variants of our boards in China and outside of China in friendly countries. If your programme has specific compliance requirements, raise them in the scoping call and we'll tell you upfront whether we can meet them.

What's a typical minimum engagement?

There's no formal minimum, but most custom hardware engagements start at around 8–12 weeks and cover at least schematic design, bring-up and pre-compliance. Shorter engagements are usually billed at a minimum of $500 per day. If your requirement is genuinely a one-day job, we'll tell you that on the scoping call rather than inflate the scope.

How long does a custom board take from kickoff to delivery?

2 to 6 months for most engagements, depending on layer count, qualification requirements and whether we're building on an existing BotBlox module or starting from scratch. The statement of work includes a milestone schedule before we begin — no moving goalposts after kickoff.

Do you work with prime contractors, or only direct with end customers?

Both. We work directly with platform teams, system integrators and prime contractors. For prime-led programmes, we can act as a Tier 2 supplier with the documentation and traceability that a prime's supply chain requires — ICDs, lot acceptance reports, long-term firmware support agreements.

What happens after delivery — do you offer ongoing support?

Yes, and it's written into the contract, not sold as an add-on afterwards. Long-term firmware support, security patches and supply continuity are defined in the statement of work. If your platform has a 10-year operational life, we scope the support window to match it from day one.
