We started with one question, why is networking hardware so bulky?

Most electronics are not designed to be flown, driven, rolled. Most electronics is too delicate, too bulky and too power hungry. This doesn’t suit mobile platforms, where every mm, gram and watt has to earn it’s keep. So we decided to fix that.

Our engineering focus: make hardware smaller, tougher, and more power-efficient. Then scale production to reduce cost, maintain strong stock availability, and ship within days.

WHAT WE'RE BUILDING

While the industry sells on density or ruggedness. We asked a different question.

What if you didn't have to choose? What if a gigabit switch could weigh 8 grams, survive MIL-STD-810H, and run mainline Linux, all at once? What if the network finally fit the platform, instead of the platform bending around the network?

We don’t do commodity. We saw a gap between 'what's qualified' and 'what fits the platform', and we built into it.

Today, BotBlox modules ship to teams in aerospace, defence, subsea, robotics, motorsport and industrial automation

Density before everything

Every cubic millimetre has to earn its keep.

Mbps per cm³ is the metric we benchmark every product against, from the 8 g GigaBlox unhoused board to the Puck Edge 10G aggregator.

On that ratio, our hardware delivers up to 9× the bandwidth density of the next closest qualified solution.

If a feature, a connector or a millimetre of substrate isn't earning that number, it doesn't make it onto the PCB.

We solve general common problems

Instead of building one-off custom solutions, we identify critical engineering bottlenecks in mobile platforms, design beautifully compact hardware to solve them, and scale production to make it cost-effective.

Ruggedness is key

Demanding environments need rugged hardware.

Delicate, unqualified hardware will fail in the field. We design our hardware to be abused. From using automotive grade parts, to thicker boards, better thermal management, our hardware is built to perform, and then tested to MIL-STD-810H to be sure.

Lightweight software

Custom built firmware and software to reduce bloat

We develop firmware and software in-house, using low-level coding to minimize CPU, memory, and power requirements while maintaining high performance on compact devices. As an added benefit, this also makes the firmware more rugged.

Supply chain resiliency

Supply chain is no longer an afterthought, it’s an edge.

We manage stock intelligently. Our ERP tracks inventory in real time and forecasts demand three months ahead, allowing us to keep production rolling across our board range. As a result, we typically maintain stock availability across around 80% of our products. That means no waiting around to get a product.

The founding

The founder, Josh Elijah, designs SwitchBlox, a small 10/100M ethernet switch for a robotics project he’s working on.

He makes a website and gets 100 units manufactured. They sell out within a few months, shipping from Josh’s Dad’s house in the middle of England.

2020

GigaBit Ethernet comes

From numerous customer requests, Josh develops a 1G ethernet switch, GigaBlox, to join the product range.

2021

Software joins the fray

Aaron Elijah (Josh’s brother) joins as cofounder to build firmware and software for the ever expanding BotBlox product range.

2023

Growing momentum

The business exceeds 6,000 total boards shipped, we’re added to DigiKey and Amphenol AeroSpace becomes our US distributor. Jaclyn Li joins as head of operations manager.

2025

BotBlox moves to the USA

BotBlox moves HQ to the USA, setting up an R&D and manufacturing facility in Brooklyn. New York. We develop our first 10G solutions including Puck Edge, delivering 38Gbps in a 87cm³ package

2026

Compute and Radar

BotBlox starts adding compute modules into it’s network stack, along with mmWave radar hardware for cUAS sensing.
